The Personalization of a Relationship with God
Hello friends, I hope you are all well.
Did you know that according to Google there are over 30,000 denominations of Christianity in the World? It’s kinda crazy to think about. Over 30,000 different interpretations of the scripture and ways of worshipping God. Over 200 of those are in the USA. Over 200 ways to worship God in the USA. But only one of those ways are uniquely yours. Though it’s not something categorized as a “denomination”, we all have our own unique ways of worshipping God and studying the Bible. Some people love to sing and shout to God, others may want to sit in the quiet and ready their Bible. I for one like to study the word by literally studying the world. Reading the Bible as a historical text of the Ancient Hebrews makes it feel extremely real to me. Analyzing the text for the deeper historical and cultural meanings is something very important to me that makes the scripture realer in a way. Though I can enjoy the louder ways of worship, that isn’t how I feel connected to God.
Often I feel like people think there is only one way to worship like, “Oh you gotta shout to God”, and “Oh, you need to wave a flag and dance”. These are great ways to worship, if they are for you. The way you worship is in a lot of ways like a love language - we’ve all heard of that I think. Some people’s love language is giving gifts, for others it’s contact, or listening. Finding your worship language is an important part of building a personal relationship with God. Your worship language is your love language with God and it is as unique as you are. In a world with over 30,000 Christian denominations, there is only one way that you worship God.
Till next time,
