RBYT: Part 1

Hey Everyone,

This is gonna be the first post I make here so I figured I would do a bit of an introduction. My name is Rune, I am 18, I am genderqueer, and I’m studying history at a small college in North Florida. I grew up in a conservative Christian environment, attending an evangelical nondenominational church and graduated from their school outreach program.

As you can imagine, the conservative upbringing I mentioned and my queer identity, do not fit well together. For a long time, and still today the two worlds have combatted within my spirit. Though I no longer hold many of the conservative viewpoints I was brought up in, they still are a constant thought in my mind. That battle has been a large part of my personal journey with Christ and brings us to the main premise of this column: Rebuilding Your Temple.

Many of the young adults I know were raised attending church on Sunday in some form or another. Whether they stayed a part of the church or even stayed in Christianity varies from person to person, however I believe we have all come to the same place at one point in our walk in Christianity, and that is questioning. I believe it's very important to ask questions, curiosity is how innovation happens. I want to use this column to address the questions that come with dismantling and reestablishing Christian views as we grow, along with the real life struggles that bring us to questioning, and I look forward to diving into all of it with you all!

                    Until Next Week,

                                                                                                 Rune
